Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-04-27

These terms govern your use of Cinerune — the website at cinerune.com, the browser editor at app.cinerune.com, and the Cinerune SDK when used against our hosted API. By using any of the above you agree to these terms.

1. The service

Cinerune is a browser-based ASCII video editor. Most of it runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded by default. We do run a small backend for accounts, transactional emails, and export-watermark signing.

2. Your account

3. Your content

The videos, images, audio, and text you bring into the editor remain yours. You keep all rights to your projects and exports. We don’t store them on our servers — they live in your browser and on devices you download them to. The signing flow that removes the watermark from registered exports operates on hashes only; we never see the content itself.

You promise that you have the right to use whatever you import. Don’t use Cinerune to process content you don’t have rights to, and don’t produce material that’s illegal where you live or where the recipient lives.

4. Acceptable use

You may not:

5. Watermark & signed exports

Anonymous exports carry a small @ cinerune watermark in every frame. Registered users get watermark-free exports — these are signed with a key derived from a server-side master secret. Tampering with a signed export, or distributing circumvention tools targeting the watermark gate, breaches these terms.

6. Service availability

We try to keep the API up, but Cinerune is provided “as is” without uptime guarantees. We may take it offline for maintenance or to address security incidents. Most of the editor works offline once it’s loaded — your projects don’t stop working just because the API does.

7. Pricing & plans

The editor is free to use. We may introduce paid tiers in the future for advanced exports / higher quotas; existing free functionality won’t be paywalled retroactively.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time (see Privacy Policy §6). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice when feasible and immediately when not (active abuse, legal demand). Termination doesn’t affect rights and obligations that survive by their nature — IP ownership, warranty disclaimers, liability limits.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We don’t guarantee fitness for any particular purpose. We don’t guarantee that exports will play correctly on every device, in every browser, forever. Back up anything that matters.

10. Liability

Cinerune is provided as is, free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we have no liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and no liability for direct damages — there is no paid relationship between you and us. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (gross negligence, willful misconduct, or statutory consumer protections in your jurisdiction).

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes are surfaced via an in-app notice when registered users sign in; the “last updated” date here moves accordingly. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the Cinerune operator resides. Disputes you can’t resolve with us via [email protected] go to the competent courts of that country. Nothing in this section removes mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

13. Contact

[email protected] — general. [email protected] — DMCA, legal demands, takedowns. [email protected] — privacy / GDPR.
